Label World earns L.I.F.E. Certification
Rochester, NY—February 10, 2010 - Label World has received certification by the Tag and Label Manufacturer’s Institute’s (TLMI) Project L.I.F.E. program. Project L.I.F.E. (which stands for Label Initiative for the Environment) was developed to enable TLMI members to promote more sustainable business practices for the environment. Participants in Project LIFE assess their progress using a set of 31 metrics which are then audited by a third party auditor. These metrics include clean production techniques, energy and greenhouse gases, product design, and management practices. The program encourages participants to set their own goals and demonstrate continuous improvement in areas prioritized by key stakeholders. Label World launched its life certification efforts in late 2009 and completed its third party audit in November 2009.
“Project LIFE has provided a way to focus our efforts on the environment and make significant steps forward as a company,” said John McDermott, President and CEO of Label World. “Using a team approach, we were able to identify numerous improvement opportunities and get all of our associates engaged in reduction, recycling and reuse. Some of our early wins included more energy efficient lighting in the plant, elimination of all plant waste from landfill to energy generation and recycling of corrugated and office paper.”
